Review: Keeping up on the laws, regulations and the ever-changing face of our tax returns can be a daunting experience for all of us. Having some help from a trusted and reliable team like J.K. Lasser is almost a must these days. This book is no exception.

This book maps out the 1040 form. It shows you line-by-line instructions to help guide you through. I dread trying to figure out what goes where when reading those form instructions. The changes from year to year confuse me at first, which in turn frustrates me. I always spend a couple of days trying to learn what is new. With this guide I was able to fly right through those form changes and get on with the important issues at hand.

The tax strategies and planning tips were also very helpful to me. I never really think a lot about my taxes until after the holidays. Then I go nuts trying to make sure I have everything I need and know what to expect in the laws. With these easy tips I just follow them through the year and when February comes around I’m set with what I can and can’t take as deductions and write offs on my taxes.

I also rely heavily on the tax rules for the self-employed. I have my own business and trying to keep up with the tax changes for the self-employed can be a constant frustration. With this guide they are all laid out right there for you.

The best part is the reference section on what’s new for this year's taxes. It’s easy to follow and I can go right to it in this book to see if what I’m doing is right or wrong and whether it’s a good idea or a bad one.

If you are inclined to do your own taxes or if you just want to know what is available for you as far as deductions and the laws, take the time to check this book out. It’s written by trusted professionals who will help guide you through the maze of tax do’s and don’ts legally and professionally.
