Information about benefits and risk covers
In recent years, many individuals have found that you can insure your life with your credit card. Using the features available on you credit card to insure your life is easy to do and in some cases, individuals may find that they are already covered under the credit card's insurance policy. There are several different ways that you can insure your life with your credit card and each type of insurance has different coverages that you should be aware of.
Most credit cards have Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for all of their card holders to provide a certain amount of money in the event of the card holder's death or inability to work due to an accident. The amount of coverage provided is established by each different credit card company and is disclosed in the individual's credit card agreement. In most cases, the individual does not have to opt-in for the coverage; they are automatically enrolled when they accept the card.
Another way that a credit card can insure your life is by providing travel insurance to you and your family when you use that credit card to pay for the travel arrangements. This type of insurance coverage is usually in effect when the individual purchases airline tickets or cruise tickets and will cover each individual in the family that a ticket was purchased with the credit card for. The amount of the coverage depends on the type of card and the issuing credit card company.
The credit card company will state the exact details of the programs in the card member's agreement that the individual will get when they are approved for the credit card. The insurance policies will only pay out a certain amount of money in certain circumstances that have to be met exactly for the unfortunate individual's family to collect any of the benefits associated with the insurance policies. This insures that several credit card companies will not be paying the family insurance benefits for the same accident.
In some cases, individuals can purchase additional insurance through the credit card companies with their credit account. This amount could be double or triple what the individual would receive by going with the credit card company's basic program. The amount of the monthly premium is billed directly to the credit card and the individual has the right to cancel the service at any time.
It is very important that the individual read all of the terms and conditions of the insurance details so that they know exactly what is covered and what is exempt from coverage for the insurance policy. There is nothing worst than assuming that you are covered under an insurance policy for a particular thing, only to find out that you do not have that coverage after an accident has happened. It is easy and hassle free to insure your life with your credit card and the coverage may be exactly what you need in your time of need.
